I don’t know about you, but I’d be awfully upset if a man only liked my body because society told him skinny is better and he’s trying to ‘rebel’. I think every body type is beautiful and I can’t wait for the day that the media displays both skinny and fat women and no one blinks an eye.
I can understand you may not have personally seen or experienced someone being harassed for being thin, but I have. I’ve read messages of hate from people to thin young women telling them they ‘need to eat,’ are ‘disgusting’, and that their bodies are ‘repulsive.’ That they’re ‘too skinny for anyone to want to have sex with.’ It’s sad. And it happens a lot here on Tumblr, actually.
I’ve also witnessed quite a few very thin friends over the years overeat massive amounts of junk food in order to gain weight. They’ll tell me they want thighs and breasts like mine and it makes me really sad and sick.
Just because you haven’t witnessed those problems doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
